Sourcing Coordinator

The Sourcing Coordinator is an entry-level role in the Panera Sourcing team.  The candidate will learn and implement the basics of strategic sourcing, procurement and supply management within Panera.  The incumbent will then analyze the managed space and support the areas of assigned accountabilities both from an internal requirement and from external partnership perspective; execute a competitive negotiations and delivering the best results for Team Panera.

Duties & Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Sourcing data and contract management – focus will be on various food and packaging categories, including smallware contracts and relationships
  • Work with suppliers to makes sure rollouts are completed per planned event
  • Ensure pricing is on time and accurate
  • Manage negotiation and contract timing and make sure there are no expired contracts
  • Conduct simple contract negotiations and business reviews
  • Work together with cross-functional partners such as QA, Culinary, Commercialization, and Finance to provide project visibility and allow for cross functional alignment and execution of Sourcing projects
  • Observe the entire sourcing process and serve as the gatekeeper for documenting process and records for all sourcing transactions
  • Evaluate current and potential ingredients in supported space to deliver the best overall value
  • Ensure that we have a supplier contingency plans and strategy in the event the primary supplier is unable to performs as required (quality, delivery, spec adherence, etc)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

Qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Business, Supply Chain or an associated field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2 years experience in a foodservice,  supply chain, or business environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience building internal and external relationships
  • Contract negotiation and attention to detail

Working Conditions

  • Position is based in St. Louis
  • Required travel – up to 10%
