Business Development Manager

Job Summary:

This position is based in Needham, MA, and responsible for the management, support and leadership of a team of Business Development Reps (BDRs). BDRs are responsible for driving net new client and account acquisition through inbound and outbound channels, both via phone and digital channels. Responsible for obtaining profitable results through his/her BDR team through program development, coaching, performance management and skill development.

Essential Functions of the Job and Key Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Sales Leadership team to ensure all Company and BDR team objectives are met. Participates as part of the broader sales leadership team on assessing catering sales performance and defining future direction.
  • Develops quarterly business plans and sales strategies that ensure attainment of team goals, and inspects activity on a regular basis
  • Responsible for the planning, recruitment, onboarding, and training of new BDR team members
  • Regular discussions and engagement with ACSMs to align on joint region strategy, ensure reps are in corresponding swim lanes, and facilitate collaboration within accounts
  • In conjunction with Sales operations, responsible for accurate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on team activity and contribution
  • Engages with clients and accounts, as appropriate, to ensure catering is well-positioned, that we identify as much business as we can, and to support BDR efforts
  • Directly responsible for team performance reviews including mid-year and annual performance reviews, as well as overall performance management of aligned BDRs
  • Ensures team is meeting all requirements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Regular, hands-on coaching and development of BDRs
  • Conducts weekly 1x1 reviews with BDRs to build more effective communication, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of net new acquisition, opportunities and activity performance
  • Utilizes Outlook Calendar and SalesForce.com as well as other online resources to maximize organization, strategic planning and follow up
  • Assists in the development and implementation of programs/marketing plans with Catering Marketing and makes sure reps are maximizing lists and leads

Additional Job Functions:

  • Attend and participate in team meetings
  • Available to work a flexible work schedule that could include weekends and evenings
  • Perform other job functions as assigned by Leadership

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Must reside in the Needham, MA area
  • Minimum 5 years of current sales experience
  • 2-3 years of prior sales management experience (BDR team management preferred)
  • Successful in building sales and motivating teams
  • Ability to influence others and achieve results
  • Strong mentoring, training and coaching skills
  • Proven leadership and relationship-building abilities
  • Holds self and others accountable to goals and expectations.
  • Executive presentation, communication and facilitation skills
  • Experience working with Marketing on developing outreach / demand generation programs
  • Detail-oriented and organized individual with strong analytical skills
  • Superior CRM knowledge, salesforce.com experience preferred
  • Strong time management skills and follows through on commitments
  • Represents themselves with the highest level of integrity and professionalism
